Pepsi-Cola Sun Fun 201 Races win over fans and weather

by Bobi Summers, Track Announcer 11 June 2005

The Myrtle Beach Speedway and Pepsi Cola of Conway presented the annual Sun Fun 201 races

to the delights of the largest grandstand crowd this season. Pepsi, the official soft drink of the Myrtle

Beach Speedway, presented each main event winner with a unique trophy, adorned with the familiar

Pepsi can as its centerpiece. Seventy seven drivers and teams competed, qualifying for starting spots

in the feature races for the five divisions by a two lap session for Late Model cars and trucks, and by

heat races in Mini, Street, and Charger. Even a brief thundershower did not dampen spirits of the

Fans, who witnessed close side by side racing to the checkered flag in each race as a payoff for their

Patience. This is the seventh race of the 2005 season. Racing in all five divisions returns again this

Saturday, June 19. Gates open 4PM. Practice 5PM. Qualifying 530PM. Racing 730PM. Come early.
